Re: Autavia dial
In Response To: Re: Autavia dial ()

: Hi Mich
: Just to add to the discussion (as I would be glad of any further
: insight ).
: Using the master reference guide from this site the watch appears
: to me to be a transitional piece between Ex 2 and ex 3 . The
: dial is ex 2 T-swiss, however the case and red second hand point
: to ex 3 - serial number is 195XXX so definitely in that later
: genre. I know from other discussions and comments in the
: reference table that the lines between generations was not
: clearly defined so I'm thinking Heuer used up the tritium dials
: on later case models ? Does that make sense ?

: Unfortunately the original owner died 20 years ago and any of the
: original provenance is long lost. The watch does not appear to
: have been modified or tampered with in it's long life and the
: only cosmetic work I commissioned was to polish the plexiglass.
: Happy to say working well now sitting nicely on the wrist .

: : hi Steve,

Hi,
examples with a 2.Ex. case (plain case back and fluted pushers) and MK2 dials (T Swiss but no "short fourty" plain subs) are more often in the wild, see for example page 39 in the Haslinger Book.
I have this type of transitional Mk2/3 model (refering to the OTD model spec.) as well. My watch has the earlier bezel with 17 teeth every segment and a Serial 144.xxx. Days ago we had a discussion here about a similar watch with 145.xxx Serial (but also with later bezel).
So IMO these transitional modes should be in the 144.xxx / 145.xxx range and 195.xxx feeels a bit off for me.
