Thank you. I'll have pictures posted soon, although the crowns before and after service certainly do not match.
Since my last post, the servicing jeweler had a strange response when I raised the issue, initially acknowledging the problem and offering to have their 3rd party service company (who they blamed for the mistake) send over crowns that would be more authentic/original. Later they changed their tune, insisting that the crown was the original part, yet offering a partial refund of the service cost.
One of the crowns sent over was similar in dimension, but was a different tap size and would not fit the stem of the movement... Does anyone know the correct tap size of an authentic Valjoux 7734?
I also took the watch to a Rolex certified watchmaker for his assessment. At a glance, the movement appears to be the Valjoux 7734. However, is such thing as a "replica" or counterfeit movement of this make/model? Could this be the reason for the different crown??
