That is a wonderful post Fabrizio.
It really made me feel emotional at it was so close to my experience. I also didn’t realise it was such a global response. I was a child in South Africa at the time, obsessed with F1 and Ferrari, and I remember asking if we could include a prayer to Lauda in the school morning prayers.
I also remember waking up early with my brother to listen on the radio to the final race in that season in Japan - there was no live TV of global races in those days. It was a disappointing outcome, but one that made sense if you knew what he had been through.
Great memories of a great man in a golden era - but much more dangerous era.
