I was listening to a podcast recently that discussed the development of social media and how it has impacted the watch collecting community.

They discussed the fact that before Facebook / Instagram / bloggers / modern social media, the discussion forums were platforms for well researched and written pieces that covered important aspects of watch history.

Ironically, this type of content is just about lost now . . . It's definitely not on Facebook or Instagram; most blogs do not publish this sort of content from individual collectors. So what has happened to the amateur historians who did this fantastic research and writing about their favorite watches?
