Complete noOb question.

Good day all;

Not a "watch" guy. Not a collector, collector wanna be, nor any of that. I really don't know what I am talking about when it comes to timepieces (and nearly everything else).

I'm 48 years old, and over my years, every now and
again, I get a hankering for a good, solid MECHANICAL, rugged chronograph type timepiece.

Sometimes in my life i've found I could maybe
even afford such a thing. After looking about
a bit, I find that isn't exactly the case.

I've missed various timepieces over the years,
because I was reluctant to spend the money
at the time, figuring I could spend a bit
more, a bit later, and get a better piece.
But time moves on.

Now, all these russian watches are showing up
all over the place, at the same time when
knock off replicas from the pacific rim
are EVERYWHERE.

I've handled a rebuild Russian "Hassleblad",
field stripped it, fiddled with it, and
found it to be a pretty acceptable mechanical
device, and it makes me wonder about these time
pieces that are showing up.

Are these russian military chronographs any good?
assuming one can find an authentic one?

I'm not looking to collect, I'm looking to
wear it and check the time of day with it.

Any feedback is welcome.

Thank you.
