Re: Sellers -- Not Willing to Take a Loss

: Yesterday, a friend and I were talking about the market for
: rental apartments, in the major US cities, post-COVID. Lots of
: units are empty, as residents flee the cities. On the question
: of why some landlords / property owners won't just lease out
: units at lower prices, my friend said, "Some people just
: can't come to terms with the fact that they have suffered
: losses". They will keep the apartment at a rate of $3,000
: per month, rather than lowering the rent to $2,200, and taking
: the paper loss.

: So too, when we see a dealer holding on to an Autavia with the
: $25,000 price tag, when the market has taken that particular
: watch to $15,000 . . . they just won't take the loss and move
: on.

Bought my 2446 Autavia for what now seems a pittance years ago. When prices skyrocketed I did shamelessly try to sell but thankfully no luck. At the time I sold other Heuers I was happier to part with, at what seemed to me then vastly inflated prices, but the 2446 remained. Hopefully it will now stay in my reduced collection along with my favourite eggshell dial 2447. Love both watches and the fact prices are easing makes me much more comfortable keeping both in my possession.
It can be hard to simply just like a watch when the market seizes them and drives value up. Both of the above are perceivably two of my most valuable watches but were certainly not bought with that in mind. Even though my income has taken a significant hit in the current economic situation I am actually glad profit is no longer a major incentive to sell. I can keep my favourites. Cheers.
