Autavia 2446 C Mark 2 without case number? *PIC*

Hi there,

I may have an opportunity to purchase an Autavia 2446 C Mk II in what looks to be a great condition. Especially the bezel looks like brand new.

What bothers me though is that the case looks polished and the seller claims there is no case (serial) number between the lugs as most Mark 2 would not have them. I have not found any confirmation for this to be true in my research and must assume, that the case number has simply been polished off. Can anyone confirm that it is normal for Mark 2 to have no serials?

If they should all have serials and this one does not, what prices are currently being paid on the market for specimens without case number? The seller is asking $8000.

Thanks for any feedback,
Jonas
