the 24-120 (with 4.5 aperture, I believe) was excellent for the basketball (relatively small court), but what should I tote to the Sugar Bowl, in the Georgia Dome, on January 2nd . . . bigger field . . . seats may be further away ? ? ?

the 80-200, with 2.8 aperture, is the classic, at around $800; but what of Ken Rockwell's love for the 70-210 D (with 4.5 aperture), at around $500 . . . if I'm in it for the long-term, do I go with the classic 80-200?
