Nope you're not wierd... I have a New "Quartz/Hybrid" that fills that role:

Quartz movement, Eco-Drive (meaning it has tiny solar panels which charge either a capacitor or a rechargeable battery, and the chronograph portion of the watch is mechanical...

I've been pretty happy with it...
