Model by description?

'Trying to ascertain the model of a watch my friend owned 10 years back.
It was a Heuer Chronograph that had holes in the face that would turn orange as the time progressed.
The case and band were an anthracite grey that looked glass-bead-blasted.
I believe the watch was targeted at the "nautical adventurer".
Any clues?
