resurfaced by certified repair ?

In the late 90's, I brought my Heuer Regatta,
which was Military green originally,to an
authorized dealer for a new crystal. I had
damaged the surafce also. He polished the
surface to a bright shine removing the Green
completely. He told me that the watch was
worth $2,500. Since he was a registered dealer
and factory certified Heuer watch repairman ;
Did the watch lose it's value being resurfaced ?
