I use an early TagHeuer 1000 quartz diver as my "action" watch. It is the same watch as the early Heuer 1000 divers.
I use all the time for skiing in the winter and fishing/boating in the summer. No problems at all. I had it pressure-checked by a local TagHeuer dealer, and it was waterproof to 200 meter like it should be.
Test your watch before you dip it into the water.
