French Heuer Chronographes

Hello there,

Can anybody tell me the story behind the Heuers made in France? Why did Heuer start making the watches here? If France was a great place to make watches, why not make existing models- from what I can see they designed new models to be made in France.

Are these watches regarded as Real Heuers? Don't recall seeing anything in the gallery..

Thanks!
