I would rather carry a sextant!
There are some very nice 'new' watches but the likes of the above came about because the manufacturers had lost their way. Now I believe 'watch companies' are listening to their market as you can see from the Breitling re issue divers, the Rolex Cellini range and the Heuer Monaco derivatives.
The stale state of the market is what led people to look at vintage watches as well as the advent of the internet and of course Ebay.
However I am not particularly enamoured myself with 'Re Issues' although some are great (64 Carrera for one) but I would prefer a new watch to have its own identity and if it is vintage in styling then ok as the re issues are just watch companies being lazy.
The Omega Planet Ocean is a good example. Vintage styling like the 60's SM 300 but bang up to date case and dial work as well as not being too pricey.
This is a good one IMHO!
