edge of inner bezel?

Martin,
did you notice when you disassembled the watch, if the outside edge of the 24hr rotating inner bezel was still blue? If the discolouration is caused by light (common cause) then the edges of the bezel which were shieled should still be blue?

Of course, if it is not conclusive if it is not blue, the discoloration could still be caused by age/temperature, in which case the edge of the bezel would fade whether shielded from light or not.

Alex's picture of the "interstate" version is pretty convincing I have to say. A nice mystery...
