Sir Sterling blew the original engine in a car I currently own...
According to the fellow my father purchased the AC from, [then non-Sir] Sterling Moss borrowed this car [which was the factory press car at the time] from AC and proceeded to do some laps at Silverstone and he managed to blow the original engine this car was equipped with...

The engine was replaced at the factory and eventually sold to the fellow who had sold it to the fellow my father had purchased it from.

I remember reading a story about Sir Sterling a couple of years back where it described him flinging the car he was driving around a cloverleaf at 70mph whilst he fumbled around for a pack of cigarettes and the lighter of the car much to the distress of his passenger[s]. The author's point was that World-Class Grand Prix drivers, even elderly ones are not like you and me and are capable of phenominal feats behind the wheel...
