Difficult to Value, But Here's My Guess

Peter:

This pair is beautiful, and it is very rare to find a pair in such nice condition, with the boxes and papers, after all these years.

The plastic ones are difficult to value. Normally, I would value the plastic pairs at approximately one-half (1/2) to two-thirds (2/3) the value of the metal pairs. So if we are seeing the nice matal Rally-Master pairs in the $3,500 range, this would suggest something in the range of $1,800 to $2,300. Add some premium for the beautiful condition and the "time capsule" box, papers, and screws; then deduct something for the fact that the Master Time is the 24-hour version and because there is no double back-plate. Put all this together, and my best guess is that this pair would sell for something around $2,500 in the current market.

As I mentioned, we don't see many of these, and the thin market makes it very difficult to estimate prices.

Enjoy the pair, and good luck if you decide to sell it.

: Hi Heuer friends

: I yesterday bought this nice pair of NOS
: Master-Time and Monte-Carlo that I will
: probably not keep. But I haven’t been able
: to find any for sale anywhere, so I don’t
: really know what they are worth? Have of
: cause looked in Jeff’s "What are they
: worth?" page, but it didn’t give me an
: answer.

: The pair comes from a widow of a garage owner
: north of Copenhagen.

: They are shown in the 1976 and 1978 Heuer
: Stopwatches catalogs that can be seen in the
: OnTheDash catalog section.

: They both come complete with: • Box with
: correct stamping.
: • Sticker on back of instruments with
: handwritten original Danish sales price.
: • Screws, nuts and washers.
: • Unstamped warranty card.
: • Instruction folder.

: Everything seems to be working perfectly and
: there are no scratches or any other faults
: on the instruments.

: Monte-Carlo is ref. 542.817 with tachymeter
: scale.
: Original price in Danish Kroners 1.330,-. (€
: 180)

: Master-Time 24 hour is ref. 299.845.
: Original price in Danish Kroners 1.455,-. (€
: 200)

: If this pair is worth what I hope, they will
: allow me to get hold of more Heuer
: Chronographs for my small but growing
: collection.

: Hope to hear what you specialists think they
: are worth. I will make a add in the sales
: forum if I decide to sell.
