Jeff - The explanation is VERY simple. If I didn't have the braintrust of this forum to consult, then I might very well buy a watch like that. I've been at this for less than 2 years and I probably could justify the flaws as the "wear & tear" that a vintage watch might have. Then I would factor in the reputation of Antiquorium and I would start to feel pretty comfortable.

Make no mistake...people like yourself, Alex, Chuck, Steve and many others have taken the time help me avoid Frankenwatches. Some poor sod who has never found this forum is going to buy that watch and will be none the wiser.

Knowing what I know now, I am pretty revolted that "thing" is crossing the block in that condition. You should start a separate thread in which everyone is allowed to post their guess at the sale price. Winner gets a 2 pound bag of M&M's. :)
