Hi Al, the AMI day disc is in Italian as this watch was specifically manufactured by Heuer for the Aeronautica Militare Italiani (AMI) which is the Italian air force. LUN is also Italian in fact for Monday ("Luned́").
It is a wonderful and indeed very rare chronograph.

Unlike Omegas, most Heuers have English day discs. Though Italian day discs are quite rare indeed on Heuers (e.g. on the Cortinas, Valjoux 7750 Pasadenas & Montreals or the rare 510.50x with days), they are in fact the *ONLY* correct ones on AMI's.
