i was rumaging round in a props box today and came across this. to be honest i'd forgotten i even had it but now it's surfaced the obvious question has to be is it a heuer? the enamel dial is signed s smith and son ltd london & chronoscope with swiss made. the model name is distinctly early heuer in feel and certainly the technology required to make a movement, that would run fast enough to give a 3 second sweep, would suggest that it was a fairly high quality item. there are quite a few numbers on the case, 59 23 & 53271 on the inside of the caseback, 252-82 on the outside, the case back numbers are repeated inside the hinged dustcover and the movement is numbered 52253 with swiss made and E. interestingly the jewels on the bridge are clear rather than the ruby colour you'd expect. the movement shows signs that many watchmakers have been at work on it, which is not too surprising with such a high beat movement (just ask your local zenith service centre). amazingly it does all still work and is accurate. does anyone have any idea of who made it, stopwatches are not my specialist area of knowledge?

many thanks

bruce
