Under the letter of the law in many jurisdictions, the seller's responsibility ends once the item is consigned to the carrier (UPS) for shipment. I would hope in this case that UPS will be cutting a check, but unless their policy has changed claims for watches and jewelry were usually capped at US$500 (or approximate local equivalent) even if they sold you more insurance.
