Rich
: It's an interesting question.
: What we have is something that was put together with largely Heuer
: parts, and is largely identical with a contemporary Carrera. But
: significantly rarer. To use a dog-breeding analogy, though, only
: one is a thoroughbred - sure the "mongrel" may have
: been put together with care, but at the end of the day, it's not
: Heuer assembled. Though the same watchmaker may have put the
: same watch together for Heuer six months later...
: Sure, I find the watch intriguing and I'd consider adding one to my
: collection... but only after I'd nailed a few more of the
: Carrera variations I'm missing. And, in one of the best tests
: there is for how much you really want a watch (think it was a
: Maddox variation on a Stein original :) ), would I regret
: missing out on this one if I don't see another in six months/a
: year/ever? I could live with that, even the latter. There are
: other watches I'm still kicking myself over more.
: So I'm wavering a bit over value - does the scarcity of the
: Solothurn watch outweigh the "purity" of a
: Heuer-branded watch? Not sure, but I'll be watching from the
: sidelines with interest.
