Jeff - thanks for filling me in on the prior history on these. The Valjoux 7733,4 and 6 chrono bridge was never signed by Heuer in this manner. Also, it looks like the inside of the back has been machined and resigned. The number of fakes of any valuable brand is OUT OF CONTROL on ebay now. I recently tried to find a correct copy of a vintage Baume & Mercier chrono with a Landeron movement and of the dozen or so listed on ebay a couple of weeks ago, not even 1 was a correct original - they were ALL FAKES! I am glad to have had the chance to work on a lot of chronographs years ago when they were mostly for real so I can spot the bad ones today. It is definitely a mind field of fakes out there now and they are getting harder and harder to spot. Craig

: Actually, we have discussed these Mappe Mondo chronographs on at
: least two occasions, and probably more often than that, but no
: definitive resolution of the question of whether these are
: fakes, where they were made, etc. As we all know, it's sometimes
: easy to spot a fake; far more difficult to prove that it's a
: fake. We see a variety of color combinations; several different
: finishes and markings on the movement; they seem to be parts bin
: specials, made with whatever is at hand.

: Since we had these discussions, and as these watches continue to
: surface, I inquired of Jack Heuer (and sent him several photos),
: and he confirmed that he had never seen these chronos.
: Accordingly, he states that they are fakes; not made by Heuer.
