Return of 11630

I finally received my Autavia 11630 back from service and thought I would share. It never hurts to look at another vintage Autavia:

I found this at a local pawn shop for a ridiculously low price. It belonged to the father of a friend of the manager's wife, if you can figure that out. The manager knows I stop by every once in a while to peruse the watches but they rarely have items that interest me. He brought this from the back, and once it came from the envelope, I was stunned. It was dirty but all original. The girl's father had engraved his name lightly on the case back and on one of the end links. It even had an aluminum bracelet calendar from 1980 still on it. Great provenance indeed.

I asked my watch repairer to give the movement a complete going-through but leave the case intact with scratches and dings. I like the lived-in look and do not want to spoil its heritage. Now it is back and holding perfect time like it should. All is well with the universe.
