"Rarest of the Rare", Monaco 74033 Gray: Auction Cancelled

This super rare gray manual-wind Monaco was listed several times on eBay with a BuyItNow of $15,000; then, a few days ago, seller listed it in a No Reserve eBay auction, with a $1.00 opening bid. [If you were skeptical that this was going to be a legitimate auction, then take a number and you can join the club.] So a little while ago, with one day to run on the auction, and bidding sitting at a whopping $3,800, we see that the auction has now been cancelled.

I assume that the seller either did a side deal (off eBay) or cancelled the auction (due to the weak bidding). In either case, it's another example of things on eBay never being exactly as they appear.

Thoughts? Maybe a reader bought it?
