It's probably a close-run thing with a modern Carrera, yes - Cal 11 is 7.7mm thick, the Valjoux 7750 in most of the modern Carreras 7.9.

Compare that to the 6mm of a Valjoux 92 from the previous Carrera 45 and you do have a notably thicker watch. It doesn't wear like it's all that thick though, I still find 1153s pretty comfortable, it's the barrel Carreras where I'm most aware of the thickness.
