Aviators: Color or Black and White?

So how do you like your aviators, in full color (Zodiac GMT) or in black-and-white (Breitling Unitime)? And which is your favorite of the straps, the black or the dark brown?

The Unitime is one of the very first chronographs that I bought, and it has always been a favorite. Yes, it shows its age, but it's good, honest age. It's always a fun moment when someone else glances at the Unitime, to see what time it is . . . if it's anywhere near the middle of the day, then they will be confused, to see the hour hand pointing down.

The straps are shell cordovan, with the leather from the Horween tannery, in Chicago. I purchased the straps at Central Time, a truly unique watch shop that I discovered on my recent visit to New York City. Later, I will be writing more about Central Time, and a couple of watches that I saw there. In the meanwhile, read more about Central Time in this blog posting from Hodinkee. Ben calls Central Time a "horological hidden gem", and I couldn't agree more.

You can also read more about Horween Leather, here.
