Re: stolen Carrera 1153,shipping from Italy

: DO NOT EVER SHIP ANYTHING OF VALUE TO OR FROM ITALY. MAIL THEFT IS
: OUT OF CONTROL THERE! WORST THAN MOST 3RD WORLD COUNTRIES!
: SHIPPING COMPANIES AND CUSTOMS EMPLOYEES JUST TAKE WHAT THEY
: WANT. SAD STORY FOR SURE.

I am am Italian collector and have been living in New York City for the past 15 years. I ship to and receive watches from Italy regularly, and from many other countries. The precautions are the same that I use with any countries: deals with reputable sellers/buyers, double and triple packages, insurance, etc. Keeping finger crossed, no bad experience so far!

I hope one day somebody will take his time to prepare a poll where everybody could share their experience, inserting the data indicating the route in which their watches were stolen. I am confident that we will discover something very interesting and that Italy is not worse or better than other countries. And maybe we will no longer have to read 3rd world countries statements.

Cheers.
Francesco
