$2,000 difference is all Dad !!

In 1967, my dad and I walked into the MG dealer (also Shelby) in White Plains, NY.
He was looking for an MGB-GT and started negotiating (price was $3,500).
As I was just getting old enought to drive in a couple years, I wondered around the small shrowroom, and there it was, a 1967 289 Shelby Cobra and for $5,500. Long story short, could not convince Dad, soft vs hard top, and $2K was huge.
Alas, I still think of that day, 50+ years later, to think in 1973, I would be handed down a Shelby !!
