Re: Heuer Jamara
In Response To: Heuer Jamara ()

A couple of factors combine to make them pretty rare; a short shelf-life, only appearing in catalogues in '77 and '78, and a more flamboyant style than most Heuers arguably appealing less to northern European tastes. Hence the name I guess.

I'm also not sure that it was a world watch - Heuer was tailoring watches to export markets a little at the time, so not every watch went everywhere. We see from one of Alex's price lists that in 1981 the UK was not getting either the Monza or the Verona Twins, for example.

So a limited overall supply, and probably also a geographically-restricted supply too means that we don't see many of these to firm up on prices. You're probably looking at about the same as you'd pay for a C12 Carrera with perhaps a little discount - Verona typically goes for less than the equivalent Carrera, and I'd expect the same thing with the Jarama, scarcity not being confused with value. Good luck in the search - all the ones I've seen for sale have been one of the two-tone models so for the black dial/bezel version you've got even more of a job on your hands, but the hunt can be fun too! I'll keep an eye out for one for you.
