re-brushing/un-polishing

What are people view's on cases of vintage Heuer's that that have been polished? First, can they be un-polished or re-brushed? (whatever the word is!). And if so, do you think it is worth doing?

Finally - how might I go about it?

I bought a 1153s Carrera, original in every way, except this.
