It's happened to me. A real bummer.

In the UK there is a police sponsored website where you can post details and is regularly checked by auction houses and various forums. Looks like the site also operates in the US territory. If you have serial and model numbers I suggest you post details with an image of the lost/stolen item.

It does not guarantee that the item will be found but it is worth a punt. Registered lost/stolen items are never removed. If it does pop up sometime in the future, you will be able to claim it (will need toprove ownership).
