Yep you are quite correct. I first noticed in on my Autavia 11630 (with orange hands), they really do suck in & reflect the light. I originally thought the hands may have been re-painted as I thought it strange that this type of material used on a old watch, that and no one else has mentioned it on here. But it seems the same paint is used across various models. It really is magical when it 'lights' up!
I wonder if you can buy cheap 'black lights', & I'll try to get some photos.
