Re: Autavia - advice needed
In Response To: Autavia - advice needed ()

Hi Tom,
If it's an 11630, it's not a 'Viceroy', they were an 1163.

I presume you have this model: http://www.onthedash.com/Guide/_Chronographs/62.Autavia/d.Automatic_Autavias/i.Reference_11630/?show=16Aut11630V750.jpg

If it is a 11630 Black dial, white subs with red highlights, then it's less common than a Viceroy.
It should have a flat mineral glass, the crystals are available from Cousins (31mm x 3mm I think). The lume dot was just filled with lume, not a 'pearl dot' like Rolexs have.

I presume you are in the UK, if so, let me know if I'm correct about the above info, I know a UK guy that can fit a new crystal & relume the bezel dot (matching the lume patina on the hands) for a very reasonable rate.

: I have just bought my first Autavia; a 11630 Viceroy. It's totally
: original and in good condition with the exception of a number of
: surface scratches on the crystal and a missing lume dot in the
: Tachy bezel. My query is about the crystal - is it a normal
: flat, mineral crystal, available from any material house, such
: as Cousins UK, or is a replacement difficult to source? Also,
: what was the missing lume dot? Is it difficult to replace or
: would it be best left alone? The bezel insert is otherwise in
: good shape, without any significant damage and is original, so
: maybe would be best left alone?? Any advice would be
: appreciated.
