porsche carrera = 1955

according to a website that I found this morning,, Porsche first used the "Carrera" badge in 1955. At first it was used only on racing and high performance cars, but made its way onto production cars in the 1970's.

The "Carrera" name has certainly been good for both Heuer and Porsche. "Carrera" mean "race" in Spanish and the word was popularized in the automotive world with the Carrera Panamericana races across Mexico in the early 1950's.
