"Freshly Restored" Is Not "New Old Stock"
In Response To: They're Only NOS on Day 1 ()

And here is an eBay listing that provides a perfect example of the idea that a watch that has been "freshly restored" is not the same as a watch that is New Old Stock. This one has had the crown, pushers and bezel replaced, but is listed as New Old Stock.

Seems to me that better descriptions might be "freshly restored".

Interestingly, my original posting was about a true New Old Stock watch that needed an overhaul (in order to run); now we see the opposite situation -- a watch that has been overhauled and should run perfectly, but should not be called "New Old Stock".

: And then there's the realization that their NOS watch won't be NOS
: for long once they strap it on and enjoy it. If they want it to
: remain NOS, then they can put it in a case and look at it, in
: which case it won't need a service as it won't be used. But if
: they use it, no matter how careful they are, it's going to show
: use. Once it does, it's no longer NOS.

: Cars are meant to be driven. Watches are meant to be worn. NOS will
: be wonderful, but only for that first day. After that, it's just
: a great watch to be enjoyed the way it was meant to be enjoyed.
