Some Reactions: Social Media for Vintage Watches

Some responses posted below.

: Okay Jeff, here goes.....

: Twitter -

: I use it mainly to follow my Football team, Liverpool FC and other
: football related people, however i'm very rarely on it as much
: as i should. Don't use it for watches though.

Twitter is very good for vintage watches; some good writers and bloggers are posting, and even a couple of dealers, who Tweet when they list new watches.

: Tumblr -

: Its great, use it frequently (weekly) to blog about new watch
: straps (yes, honestly :) ), just started following your blog and
: boy you've been busy, lol.

Through the first week, it seems very quick and easy, and may prove to be somewhat useful; not much effort at all. Probably will not change the world of vintage watch collecting, but effortless fun. Seems to be a "show and tell", where people share favorite images. It can probably also serve as a gateway to useful information and communities.

: Forums -

: I used to log in too quite a few, WUS, timezone, MWR, etc, etc but
: dont have the time anymore, now its a daily dose of
: Chronocentric and TZ-UK only, i occasionally check IVHOC but the
: rest i can do without.

Agreed entirely . . . Most days, I'm down to two forums -- Chronocentric and TZ-UK; arrogance and a warped view of the internet seem to be killing TimeZone.

: Flickr / Photosharing -

: I use Photobucket and find it a pleasure to use, never had a
: problem with it.

: What About Facebook? -

: Don't get me started about "noseybook"....can't stand the
: thing, i can see how it may be beneficial to family members
: around the world to keep in touch but other than that???.

: I've so many friends and family who think it is the internet,
: nothing else exists, so put me in the exclusive club as a
: non-facebook member and i also don't own a mobile phone but
: thats another story! :)

: Regards,

: James.
