Photo comparison of the 2 different parts & another question

Below you can see the 2 different hour wheels i am asking about. Its clear to see that my Cal.11 GMT hour wheel has a stepped stem coming up from the cog.
Between myself and my watchmaker we have discussed the possibility of removing the cog from the stem & then having the new cog pressed onto the Cal.11 GMT stem. Does anyone have any input into this theory ?
We are currently awaiting some basic answers from a parts seller as to the specific size & configuration of the standard Cal.12 cog but we hope that someone might be able to jump in with some information that may assist us in the process.
