Russia in colour 100 years ago

Very interesting Jeff, and Olaf - I'm glad you enjoyed them.

There is something very special about these old colour photos. Maybe it's the breed we are - vintage watches, old school cars, the art of something beautifully made etc etc, that make us contemplate these beautiful finds. They are special, as today photographs are not even really 'considered' anymore.

So, following on from the US in colour, I thought you might like to see these, again an old thread from TZ-UK, but I find these fascinating - probably even more so than the US photos, as Russia has always been such a closed off country. Russia has been tarred with the 'cold war' brush and we forget that 100 years ago, it was just another wonderful country..

: Amazing photos and interesting that the federal government (Farm
: Services Administration) actually dispatched photographers to
: document the impact of the Depression on American life. I'm not
: sure the federal government is undertaking thsi sort of project
: in the current era.

: I was interested in the photographers, as I had only heard of one
: of them (Russell Lee). If you share my curiosity, you can read
