Re: TAG-Heuer Service in the U.S.

Just had my Monaco back from service here in the UK. Basically the watch was given to the dealer who sent it to Tag Heuer in the UK who could not service it. It was then sent back to Tag Heuer Switzerland who agred to service it providing I signed a disclaimer as some parts were unavailable and they would not guarantee it would be waterproof. They replaced the hands/glass and cleaned the face. A full service was carried out but they refused to refurbish the case. Returned after about 10 weeks at a cost of $500. My Silverstone has now gone back although the factory are quoting 12 weeks and still require the disclaimer. No case or crystal restoration and they are carrying no parts for this one. Cost $500+

A late 40's Heuer chronograph was returned to me unserviced as the factory had no replacement parts and they would not take the chance something would break and render the watch useless.

Contrast this with Omega who just serviced my 1969 Dynamic with new crystal, crown and a case refurbished like new - no questions asked. It does seem Tag have no interest in their discontinued 'legacy' Heuer watches and are making it difficult and expensive to have work done on them. Much like old cars a 'specialist' is probably the best option.
