Re: Jarama Chronograpgh
In Response To: Jarama Chronograpgh ()

: Guys,

: Want to check the history of a Jarama circa
: 1978-79.

: I am being told, this is the model that was
: presented to the Ferrari F1 winning team in
: 1978, the whole team got one and the drivers
: got solid gold ones. There were not many of
: them sold to the public so there is a bit of
: a Heuer urban myth/fact that the boxed ones
: tend to be the ones presented to the team
: because they just sold them on more or less
: straight away.

: I have checked the catlog section and it
: appears in the catalog and looks like the
: real mccoy.

: Just would welsome some feedback.

Hi Steven

good question. my understanding is that Heuer gave gold bezel versions of the Jarama to the Ferrari mechanics & team members (there was never a solid gold version of the Jarama) i have also been told that solid gold Carreras were handed out in the early 70s to Ferrari and this may explain the progression of the story to gold Jaramas. i have no proof that any of this happened and have seen little evidence of any pics showing Ferrari people wearing these watches. you would imagine that with the Ferrari story being so well covered in books that the pics would be there somewhere? doe's anyone have any Ferrari F1 books they could look in?

hope this helps

bruce
