OT: 40 years ago at Silverstone F1 GP

40 years ago, when I was 15, I traveled on my own to Silverstone to follow the British Formula 1 Grand Prix race. There was a big accident on lap 1 that delayed that race for 1 hour but it was still a fantastic day for a young boy that had never seen a formula car before. As you can see from my old Kodacmatic pictures you got very close to the cars and drivers.

That day influenced me a lot and is directly connected to the fact that I now own a Lotus Elan 1968 and collect motorsports watches.

I bought a black/gold John Player Special Lotus nylon jacket that I wore proudly when not wearing my hippie afghan coat! Remember it was 1973 with Hendrix, handmade chillums, love and peace and my friends didn't share my interest in mechanical things.

Enjoy the race today
Peter, Denmark

PS
My watch at the time was a Omega Genève Dynamic.
