Re: 1163 Autavia White Orange Boy / Great White / Milk Choco

Hi Eric,
great post and wonderful watch! Your sample seems to be one of the nicest of the known batch, congratulations.
Thanks for sharing.
Best.

: 1163 Autavia White Orange Boy / Great White / Milk Chocolate Roll
: Call

: A few others have called for an Autavia reference 1163 White Orange
: Boy / Great White / Milk Chocolate / White Boy / Cream /
: Whitavia / Bullittavia / Blanco / Toblerone Autavia / Alpine /
: Ginger roll call / census and I am interested in learning how
: many are actually out there. Funnily enough, there may be more
: nicknames (11) than 1163 examples, haha.

: I did this with Skippereras last year here:

: Here are those that I know of:

: 1. Bullitt - Pier's is the first we discovered as a community and
: he said bought it in a vintage market in Rome. It has developed
: a beautiful chocolate color. It has the traditional black orange
: boy hands in the Viceroy style. The serial is 242XXX with
: calibre 12 and two marks under the lugs. The dial looks like it
: was relumed as part of the restoration process of the watch.

: The dial when it was found:

: 2. Jeff Stein - his was purchased from Jeff Herman and originally
: came from a Heuer employee. It has full lume orange outline
: hands. It is serial 224156.

:
:

:
:

:
:

:
:

: Here is where Jeff Herman first showed it off:

: Here is where Jeff Stein showed it off:

: And Jeff Stein also showed it here:

: 3. Richard Crosthwaite - this has the darker black registers and
: does not appear to be going tropical, but the dial appears to be
: relumed. It has the traditional black orange boy hands in the
: Viceroy style. It is featured in the Heuer Autavia book by Rich
: and Paul Gavin. The photos are by Paul Gavin.

:
:

: You can (and should) buy the book here:

:

: 4. Jorge Barosso - on this one the registers are turning slightly
: brown. The case brushing also looks like it was redone, perhaps
: by Abel. It has the traditional black orange boy hands in the
: Viceroy style.

:
:

: 5. Another one (on the right of the photo), recently shown by Jeff,
: has more wear, has the full orange outline hands, and the serial
: number is 224277.

:
:

: 6. Mine - it has the full orange outline hands and has not yet gone
: tropical. It has a silver calibre 12 movement.

:
:

:
:

:
:

: Are there others out there?

: I know at least two dials have floated out there. Stewart bought
: one and put it in a 11630 case:

:

: There was another that sold on eBay, too, around the time Bullitt
: announced his discovery:

:

: There are also a number in 11630 cases that could recased in 1163
: cases, but I hope that will not happen.

: When Bullitt first introduced his watch, he said Alberto Museum has
: seen another of these in his life. I am not sure if that one is
: among the 6 above or somewhere else. Later, Bullitt said he had
: seen three total:
