While I have not been following the prices of these Carreras, I agree -- on principal -- with Mark's assessment.

At a time when a given watch might be selling for $2,500 to $3,000, we might expect to see a dealer in the $3,500 to $4,000 range. There is a long-standing debate regarding the value that a buyer derives from the dealer -- authentication; service; warranty; accuracy in description; etc.

I believe that most of on this forum are able to buy a lot of great watches at closer to the private prices. But the right dealers, offering the right watches, can earn this premium.
