Rally Master and Jaegar tachometer *PIC*

Greetings gentelman,
I thought you might be interested in a picture of the clocks inside my 1959 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint. The rally-master set is a 50s Hervue Heuer set and the tachometer is a rare Swiss manufactured Jaegar chronometric tachometer as used in the works Alfa Romeo sports/racing cars. Chronometric tachs are very interesting and complex instruments with clock mechanisms and are mechanically driven vs. our modern day electric tachometers. Racing cars of the period often used these type of tachs because they did'nt want to deal with the potential irregularities of an electrical device during a race. They don't have a smooth movement, but rather move in a "ticking" fashion as they measure revolutions in a set period of time. The intro to Grand Prix shows some Smiths tachs in operation if you want to see what the ticking looks like.

Regards,
Hans
