$15,600 is indeed a lot of money for a project watch but judging by the emails i recieve EACH MONTH asking if i would be interested to sell mine i gather these are highly desired amongst the Heuer collectors.
I dont recall seeing one of these offered for sale through ebay ( well at least not in many years ) so this was a case of the market forces at work.
I think everyone wishes this one were in better condition but the bare bones of the model are all in place - ( dial, dauphine hands, bezel, original bridge on the movement & case in the correct serial range ). With these elements in place & a very sympathetic / knowledgable watchmaker, i believe this watch will clean up very nicely. I may even go as far as to say i expected the final sale price to go a little higher than it finished.
Now, keep your eyes out on chronotrader to see if someone places a WTB fot a pair of extra long chrono needles for a Valj.72 & a pair of 4mm pushers. I truely hope it was one of our little family that was the lucky winner of this auction.
Here's my well patina'd treasure - my favourite watch out of my collection.
