Best of 2014 - A Son's Gift

When thinking about 2014, there are many watches that I would be pleased to show. However, it's actually a gesture that makes this little watch one of my most memorable of the year. The watch is a Vietnam era Ollech & Wajs 17J Precision Diver. It's actually two identical non-working watches (each having their own merits) that I purchased independently, and had my watchmaker restore into the one watch pictured below from pieces and parts of both. As for the referenced gesture, My 15 year old son, on his own accord, did some research and purchased the NATO band that you see on the piece. He gave it to me as a gift, to finish it off. It was a very nice surprise, and I was thrilled that he had taken an interest, and thoughtfully purchased it for me. While not the most expensive watch, because of his gesture, it ranks at the top of my list for 2014! It's now a piece that we can share and one that I hope will continue to grow his interest in vintage watches.

Thanks for forum to share and for great community here!
