start to my collection...

As a resident of Florida who grew up attending endurance sports car races at Sebring and Daytona every year, I was drawn to the Heuer Carrera when I first looked into getting a nice watch. After some research I decided I wanted an early original Carrera, or one of the 1964 Re-Edition models, the Lemania 1873 one with the basic Heuer logo.

I recently found a very clean example on eBay and purchased it. I paid $845, I think I got a fair price, although it is hard to find many of these watches for sale to compare it with. It was very lightly worn by the previous owner and is really beautiful. It is the model with the black perforated strap, and the solid black 3 register face. It was originally purchased from Aarons Watches not quite 3 years ago for $1265.

The gentleman I purchased it from said it is a gray market item, and has no serial number. The back only has a Heuer logo, it is completely bare otherwise. It does not look like it has been altered or had any numbers removed. I removed the back and other than some small numbers on the movement, there are no other numbers or signs that any were removed. Should this be a concern? I am not interested in selling the watch and it would be out of warranty anyway. The copy of the Aaron's invoice I have lists it as CS 3113-BC 0726, this is a model/style number, correct?

I am very happy with my purchase and I know that is what really matters, but I am still curious to find out as much about my purchase as I can and further educate myself about the world of watch collecting. I would like to find a nice original Carrera some day, and eventually end up with a small interesting collection. I am not into flash, and don't wear jewelry, but I am a sucker for any fine mechanical device. My first love has always been sporting automobiles, I am partial to English roadsters and BMW sedans, and I do all my own work and am not shy about modifications, more of the functional variety than the cosmetic catastrophies that too many people seem to favor. Thank you for your patience in reading this and any comments/suggestions/etc. you may have regarding my watch or the hobby in general.
