How would you justify paying 5000-10000 for a gold edition which houses the same technology as the regular model?

This sounds like how Rolex has the same movement in their Submariners across different materials, etc...

I wonder if this may create a bottleneck of some sort where it will become extremely difficult to find the stainless steel model of the watch and in turn drive prices up for the regular models (it's like trying to find a stainless steel Daytona)
