Mid-size diver case differences

A while back, I picked up this 980.013L from EBay and have been on the hunt (unsuccessfully) for a replacement bezel.

I've since picked up a couple of cases (thinking I could just transplant the dial movement), but they are much thicker. These were both sold as Heuer cases and the black bezeled one has a 980.020L caseback (obviously not correct).

Side shots with the original:

So, the questions are:

Are these thicker cases original (or are they later Tag versions)? Are they possibly pre or post 'L' cases?

If they are original, what movement would they take? I'm happy to transplant the original dial and hands onto a new movement to fit into one of the newer cases.

Any help or guidance much appreciated.

Cheers

Ed
